Adventures On The Trail Of The Habsburg Empire, Part IV

Thursday, 26 August from 7pm to 10pm

We’ve had an amazing summer at Bar Bambino with a variety of tastings and dinners that have explored and celebrated the infusion of Habsburg Empire influences on the gastronomy and viniculture of northeastern Italy and surrounding areas. This Thursday, we bring a close to this summer series with a final extravaganza: a five-course degustation menu of Chef Elizabeth Binder's creations paired with wine selections by Owner + Wine Director Christopher Losa.

Join us for Chef Binder’s delicious menu that tours Central Europe for influence and includes Hungarian-style beef tartare, open-faced ravioli with cabbage and speck, and lacy parcels of house-smoked ham with turnip and horseradish. Wines showcase the extraordinary work being done with "common" varietals in unexpected places. Among all the extraordinary wines for the evening, we are excited to be pouring the first of the 2009 vintage from Arbe Garbe, the Friulian-varietal project in Napa Valley; a Bordeaux-blend from Ivo Batic, Slovenia’s rockstar-popular winemaker whose reputation is such that we had to sneak a couple of bottles from Mario Battali’s order to get them here for you to try; and central Croatia’s only amphora made wine, in the United States only for this dinner.

We look forward to welcoming you to our summer send-off.
